Welcome to the Martin Petroff & Associates web site…

Trying to understand the options available to help pay the costs of long-term care is overwhelming. Paying out-of-pocket is often a time-limited venture. Few families are in a position to pay privately for an extended period of time.

The law firm of Martin Petroff & Associates is dedicated to assisting the disabled and the elderly in their efforts to access health-care services and avoid impoverishment.

  • We believe it is essential to know that there are many ways to protect an individual's assets and still obtain necessary long-term care. In fact, it is not necessary to dissipate or spend down savings or income to a bare-bones level to become eligible for those services.

  • We focus on the legal needs of the elderly, working with a variety of legal tools and techniques to meet the goals and objectives of the older client. The firm also represents disabled clients who have long-term care needs similar to those of the elderly.

  • We address general estate-planning issues and counsel clients about planning for incapacity with alternative decision-making documents, such as durable powers-of-attorney and health-care proxies.

  • We assist the elderly and younger disabled clients in planning for possible long-term-care needs, including nursing-home care, assisted living, home care, and day care.

Our specific practice includes locating the appropriate type of care, coordinating private and public resources to finance the care and working to ensure our clients' right to quality care.
